Jacek Rostowski

Jacek Rostowski (born 1951) has been Professor of Economics at the Central European University in Budapest since 1995, where has held the position of Dean of the Department of Economics twice (1995-2000) and 2005-6. During 1989-95 he was Lecturer at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London. During 1989-91 and 1998-2002 he was advisor to the Polish Finance Minister, Leszek Balcerowicz. He has also advised authorities in Russia, Ukraine and Latvia.

Jacek Rostowski has published many books and articles about the macroeconomic aspects of creating the market economy in the CEE and FSU countries. His present research interest is mainly in the economic impact of the quality of state institutions. He received his B.Sc. (International Relations) in 1972 from University College London; his MA in Economics and History in 1973 from the University of London and his M.Sc. in Economics in 1975 from the London School of Economics. He speaks fluent English, Polish and French and has a working knowledge of Russian.
