Poland in the Rockies hit on exactly the right formula. Norman Davies
If a program like this had been offered at the time when I was a student, I’m sure I would have jumped at the opportunity. Andrew Nagorski, Newsweek
I’ve been to many conferences; this is the first that will stay with me forever. Stan Oziewicz, Globe & Mail
Udzial w programie PwGS (Polska w Gorach Skalistych) byl okazja zobaczenia zupelnie nowego pokolenia Polonii i nowego sposobu dzialania. Ja nie spotkalem sie jeszcze z takim seminarium, by mlodzi ludzie uczyli sie o Polsce, uczyli sie dosc nowoczesnie, krytycznie. To nie bylo seminarium, gdzie uczono by rzeczy banalnych czy stereotypu folklorystycznej Polski. Mysle, ze dzieki temu nowe pokolenie bedzie mialo swoja inteligencje, bedzie w stanie budowac mosty miedzy Polska a swiatem, miedzy Polska a emigracja. Krzysztof Zanussi
I must say that Poland in the Rockies reawakened my zeal for involvement in matters of Polonia. Mariusz Borowicz, Chicago
Stimulating days, sleepless nights, Newsweek’s senior editor, a Globe and Mail journalist, history, literature, politics, art scholars and 33 students: The seminar was not only an intellectual journey, but an opportunity to accept my dual identity by discovering people who share similar experiences and interests. Kinia Adamczyk, Montreal
I’ve never been a part of a group that was so welcoming and generous. I loved the fact that we all seemed to embrace our differences and were happy to be together. Marta Bladek, CUNY
I truly feel a duty to pay something back to the organization that has given me so much… In a way, PitR belongs to all of us… and we need to help make the next conference happen. Bart Bonikowski, Princeton

Poland in the Rockies was an amazing experience. It validated my Polish-Canadianness, it opened my eyes to how much I have yet to learn and know about Poland, and it has most of all encouraged me to seek out more information and people involved in the community. Kasia Wisniewska, Montreal
I didn't like that last day of saying goodbye at all. I do want to see everyone again and that we are not just friends but colleagues. We have so much to offer each other so lets work together and keep connected. I have a lot of ideas for the forum and group we should start: PitR level 2. David Husar, San Francisco
The Poland in the Rockies program was rich and valuable… I had never encountered Żegota in my studies, nor the deportations to the Soviet Union during World War II... The high caliber of speakers… their eagerness to interact with us outside of their lectures, be it eating breakfast or sightseeing with us, and always being open to conversation... the intelligence, boundless energy, friendliness, maturity, and sincere warmth of the other participants. Agata Nowinska, Edmonton
I would like to [express] my sincerest gratitude for having been given the opportunity to participate in the very first “Poland in the Rockies”… The quality of the speakers who were invited to Canmore,... the hikes provided a wonderful and much needed respite from the intensity of the program… Please know that if there is anything that I can do to help secure the program’s future I will be more than happy to help. Agnieszka Polakowska, Toronto
Poland in the Rockies was a tremendous success and I personally enjoyed every moment of it. The history of Poland and the learning experience in general was invaluable. Overall, Poland in the Rockies was fantastic and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you for having me. Dominik Podbielski, Toronto
The intensity of all of the presentations and discussions was relieved by the beautiful natural setting of the Rockies and excursions to neighbouring places of interest such as Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Banff, and Sulphur Mountain. With the speakers taking part in these excursions, it was a rare opportunity to socialize one on one with such great dignitaries under more informal circumstances. The extracurricular activities provided a wonderful bonding opportunity for everyone… Theresa Dudzik, Los Angeles
The program Poland in the Rockies was an amazing experience, and I think I speak for all of us. It brought us together, the participants and the organizers…What I enjoyed most out of the entire 11 days, are the speakers. Their knowledge about their own subjects was unparalleled. Eva Przybylo, Edmonton
I wanted to thank you again for organizing the Poland in the Rockies conference. I was really pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism, high quality of the speakers and organization, and overall quality of students. As the first such conference, it was more than successful, and I hope there will be more in the future as a result. Vanessa Jankowska, Yale
When I heard about Poland in the Rockies last spring, I promptly applied… not only was I going to learn about Polish studies from leading scholars in the field, but I was also going to meet young adults with backgrounds similar to mine. For the first time, in a long time, I was going to be in a Polish environment, which I didn't realize how much I had missed… We discussed Polish identity, history, art, and film. In this exciting learning environment, I became more appreciative and understanding of my Polish background. Barbara Boczkowska, Montreal
