A
discussion of “hot” issues
“Polish death camps”: Does
it matter and, if so, why? If so, for Poland? For Canadians and
Americans? For history? Why is there a persistence of this usage in
media? Why is it so difficult to change attitudes?
The perception of Poland;
Why do BBC World and other media consistently show maps of “Europe” with
Germany, Switzerland and Austria as its eastern borders? Why do
journalists and magazines state that Poland was not touched by the
Renaissance, the Reformation and other cultural currents?
Does any of this have an
impact on the perception of Polish Canadians and Polish
Americans? On Polish American/Canadian participation in the
cultural/political life of our respective countries?
Polish
Americans/Canadians: visible or invisible? By choice, through
indifference, or have we been marginalized.
