Anne Applebaum
Anne Applebaum, a columnist and member of the editorial board of the Washington Post, is the author of Gulag: A History, for which she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 2004. Her career in journalism began in 1988 as Warsaw correspondent for The Economist, she covered the collapse of communism in Central and Eastern Europe, and in 1992 became Foreign Editor and Deputy Editor of the Spectator. Since then, her writing has appeared in major news media including The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Tribune, The Guardian, Suddeuttsche Zeitung and The National Review, and she is a frequent guest on radio and television programs on the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, CBC and Sky News.
